Days Out: Godstone Farm by Paloma Lacy
Why is it that you’re least likely to visit attractions closest to home?
With this in mind, my family and I headed off to Godstone Farm for a day out.
Nestled in the Surrey countryside, the nearest railway station is Caterham so perfectly reachable from South London.
I had fond, albeit, vague childhood memories of the farm from more years ago than I care to count and little seems to have changed in the intervening years.
All animal life is here and whether it’s those on four legs, small and fluffy, birds or amphibious ones – there’s a staggering variety.
My daughter and her cousin were so pleased to hold a rabbit and squealed at the sight of piglets feeding.
We also saw ponies, donkeys, chickens, chinchillas, llamas, alpacas, and a host of others.
We didn’t manage to get our timings right but you can join the farm team in feeding pigs, sheep, cows, as well as other animals, using feed on sale in the gift shop.
The farm is host to 500 animals.
Once we’d spent a few hours wandering around meeting the animals, it was time for lunch and the Tea Room offers up a fantastic range of hot and cold lunches to satisfy the whole family.
It was cold and a little rainy so it was time to head for the Play Barn and soft play, much to our little ones’ delight.
If truth be told, we adults took it in turns to race around with them and thoroughly enjoyed it as well.
The day was a resounding success and all agreed that it’d been the best family trip we’d taken in a long while.
Nothing says Easter like a visit to a farm.
From April 4– 9, hop along the funny bunny quiz trail and keep your eyes peeled for adorable baby animals.
This is the best time of the year to welcome new furry and feathered friends.
Dive into an enchanting world and meet the Easter Bunny in his burrow – an additional charge applies when meeting the Easter Bunny.
Take in the magic and get that all important treat.
The make and take zone lets the little ones get creative, with crafting of Easter egg suncatchers and the chance to plant your own five a day.
