How to Lime: 5 ways to be a safe rider

London has turned Lime green, with over 100,000 e-scooter trips on the roads, providing residents with an environmentally-friendly and socially distanced way to travel.

But as with any mode of transport, safety is the number one priority.

So, whether you’re new to the road or an experienced rider, here are our golden rules to safe scooting in the capital:

Stay in your lane

Pavement riding is illegal, and scooting is only permitted on the road or in cycle lanes.

To keep you safe, our scooters are packed with the latest tech and have a max speed of 12.5mph.

Park your ride

Once you’ve finished your ride, always be sure to park the scooter in an upright position in a designated painted parking bay.

The Lime app will help you find a free spot.

Under 18? You’ll have to wait

Riders need to be 18 or over, and are required to verify their account by scanning a provision or full driving licence when they first log into the app.

Don’t double up!

E-scooters are designed for one person, so no tag teaming.

The same goes for your luggage – hooking bags onto the handlebars can affect your balance, so make sure to pack light.

Stick to Lime and soda

Don’t drink and ride! Just like driving, it’s not only illegal, but dangerous too.

Enjoy a Lime on your way to the pub, or if you stick to a Lime and Soda, use an e-scooter to get home.

To help new riders further get to grips with the capital’s latest transport option, Lime has launched a series of ‘First Ride Academies’ in participating boroughs.
