Jerram’s ‘The Museum of the Moon’ showcases at the Old Royal Naval College

This winter, space enthusiasts can delight at the opportunity to marvel at Luke Jerram’s grand, illuminated moon installation at the Old Royal Naval College, which will also be hosting a series of lunar-inspired events.

Jerram’s ‘The Museum of the Moon’ is a structure which was created using NASA imagery, and features minute details of the lunar surface.

The installation follows the artist’s previously successful Gaia installation which was displayed at the Old Royal Navy College in 2021.

It will be exhibited in the Painted Hall from December 12 to February 5, accompanied by a sound composition from BAFTA award winning composer, Dan Jones.

A UNESCO World Heritage site with a 500 year history, the Old Royal Naval College will be hosting a series of events for visitors to enjoy this serene site.

Their programme includes a Moonlight Dining Experience, which promises to eclipse all other Christmas dinners with a twinkling evening meal under the Museum of the Moon, accompanied by live performances.

For families, the Santa’s Over the Moon event will give children a chance to meet Father Christmas and listen to his moon-inspired stories.

Other events include a festive afternoon tea in the Admiral’s House on select Sundays in November and December and a series of yoga classes in the Painted Hall.

Classes will include a pre-work morning yoga session every Wednesday in January, a full moon workshop, sound bath, movement workshop and weekend yoga brunch.
