London Band No Coward soul releases second album The Boondox

An Americana-inspired five-piece band, No Coward Soul, have released their second album called The Boondox.

The London-based band have followed up their hit debut album The Almanac with an album they say is recognisable but distinctly more personal.

The title comes from a roadside bar in Salcha, Alaska, where singer, songwriter, Brad Schmauss grew up.

The Boondox is an album populated by the weird, wild, and wonderful creatures that are drawn to the North, the space, the darkness.

Universal themes sit within the very peculiar tales that emerged unreliably from Brad’s memories of life in Alaska, said the band.

Musically, No Coward Soul’s second album sees a return to their acclaimed rich and beautiful vocal harmonies, while the band always ensure that there is music to move to.

Speaking about the album, Brad Schmauss said: “I wanted to make an album that reflected my experiences growing up in the Alaskan woods.

“It’s a unique, atmospheric and sometimes strange environment. I wanted this collection of songs to tell stories that reflect the place as I knew it.

“People who live there will understand many of the references and I hope all our other listeners can journey there in their imagination: to a vast and beautiful landscape filled with dangerous beasts and lost souls”

The album will be available to download and stream via Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and Apple Music from December 11.
