Musical delights at Lambeth Country Show

An unmissable line-up full of jazz beats, Cuban mixes, Afrobeats and Reggae is set for a very special community festival this June.

The Lambeth Country Show is a free annual Community event that has been managed by Lambeth council since 1974.

This year, from June 10 to 11, the Lambeth Country Show will transform Brockwell Park in Dulwich Road, into a hub of community activity with everything from flower and fruit displays to farmyard animals and jousting.

The weekend hosts over 200 traders and exhibitors including street food from around the world, local crafts, health and wellbeing and much more.

A rich heritage of local charities and community groups also have a presence at the show and help celebrate the diversity that Lambeth has to offer.

However, the main event of the festival is its music.

Half of the park will be devoted to musical entertainment with a line-up of artists carefully selected by Culture Promotions.

Culture Promotions has been producing the main stage line up for almost 20 years and is sure to create an eclectic and exciting mix of music for the Saturday and a pure roots cultural reggae line up for Roots Day on the Sunday.

Saturday, June 10, will open with jazz broken beats Tanhai Collective, followed by The Floacist, Natalie Stewart.

Ms Steward was originally from the English R&B duo Floetry and is now working on her new I N I project.

Then comes a force to be reckoned with, a 13-piece brass ensemble and electronic dance band, Dutty Moonshine Big Band, followed by a group that blends Cuban sounds with Afrobeats, Lokkhi Terra, featuring former Fela Kuti pianist turn UK Afrobeat ambassador, Dele Sosimi.

And to top it all off, Saturday’s headline act is one of the most prestigious soul talents of the UK, Omar Lye-Fook, known professionally as Omar.

With just a short break in-between to catch our breath, the festival’s second day jumps straight into Roots Rock Reggae all afternoon in a celebratory Roots Day.

Macka B, opens the stage, a British-born Jamaican reggae artist, performer and activist with a career spanning 30 years and one of Britain’s most influential dancehall DJs.

The Twinkle Brothers will join this segment in true Jah Shaka roots style.

The headliner and finale for the Lambeth Country Show main stage is Anthony B, live and direct from Jamaica with House of Riddim Band, promising a high energy performance, with a revolutionary and dynamic stage presence.

With over 120,000 people attending throughout the weekend, the show is one of the biggest free family festivals in the UK.
