Shake with Laughter takes to the stage in aid of Parkinson’s UK

As an altruistic organisation, the famous Comedy Store in Soho often puts on benefit gigs.

On Wednesday, October 19, a showcase of comic talent will take to the stage in aid of Parkinson’s UK.

So far Jo Brand, Rob Deerings, Tim Vine and Sharon Wanjohi have been confirmed.

The somewhat boldly titled Shake with Laughter aims to raise money for pioneering research into Parkinson’s, which affects around 145,000 people in the UK.

Deering founded the flagship comedy night 10 years ago and will be acting as host.

He said: “Like some of my comedy colleagues taking part in Shake with Laughter with me this year, my life has been affected by Parkinson’s.

“My dad passed away in 2019, having lived with the condition for more than 15 years. While he isn’t able to come to my gigs anymore, he still inspires me in everything I do, from comedy, running and quizzes, to raising awareness and funds for Parkinson’s UK.

“Jo Brand said: “The money raised from Shake with Laughter will go directly towards Parkinson’s UK’s ground-breaking research, as well as the support services that people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones rely on.

Join us for a night full of laughter.”
