Show your appreciation for your local hospice and walk with St Christopher’s this September
“This past year has been incredibly hard”, says Anne Nash, a consultant nurse who oversees care for patients from across south London at St Christopher’s Hospice.
Anne is asking her local community to put on their comfortable shoes and show their support for the work of the hospice during the pandemic by joining her at St Christopher’s sponsored Fun Walk at Keston Common, Bromley, on 19 September 2021.
Anne, who has supported patients and their families at the hospice for over 30 years, continues, “This year has been so tough for the people we care for who haven’t been able to see family, tough for the staff on our wards and visiting homes to look after patients with COVID-19, and tough for isolated members of our community who were cut off from the world as we went into each lockdown. We have also been caring for more people than ever before.
“However, I’m so proud because the response to these tough times at the hospice has been nothing short of heroic.
From the nurses and doctors who go above and beyond to ensure we can continue caring for our patients and their families, to our supporters and volunteers who have found creative ways to reach out to those most in need.
We came together as a community when it mattered most and the response, including messages of support and donations of supplies from the public, was truly overwhelming.
“After this last year, I think everyone has a stronger appreciation of the importance of first-rate care and support at the end of life, so if you can, please take this opportunity to become a hospice hero too.
Help us raise the funds that mean we can be ready to help your family, friends and neighbours whenever they need it.”
St Christopher’s Fun Walk offers four different walking routes (3, 5, 8 or 11 miles) starting and finishing at Keston Common, Bromley on Sunday 19 September 2021.
