Winter Market at the Southbank Centre

Winter in London is going to be a little different this year, but it’s not all festive doom and gloom, Winter Market at the Southbank Centre returns with alpine-style chalets and seasonal pop-ups bringing some much-needed festive cheer to the capital.

Visitors can expect to feast under twinkling lights, shop for seasonal goodies, enjoy drinks and even dine in private Snow Globes overlooking the London skyline.

With plenty of winter pop-up bars, street food stalls, restaurants and opportunities to shop, the Winter Market will be brimming with festive treats.

Choose from street food favourites such as gourmet burgers, waffles and mac & cheese; winter classics like fondue and bratwurst; and mince pies, Dutch pancakes and other sweet treats.

To keep things warm and merry, there’ll be mulled wine, spiced cider and hot chocolate on hand.

As the darkness of the winter months set in, Winter Light, a new outdoor exhibition, will illuminate the Southbank Centre site with colour and animation.

The light-based artworks and commissions will be installed throughout November and early December and will remain on-site until the end of February.

Winter Light will comprise over a dozen artworks that use light and colour for inspiration, animating the riverside and the site’s iconic buildings.

Look out for a new spectacular commission adorning the trees along The Queen’s Walk, artworks placed in windows and foyer spaces, and installations on the rooftops and facades, using the architecture of the site itself as a canvas.

Further information on Winter Light is due to be announced soon.

You can cosy up in the twinkle-lit dining room, enjoy festive street food in the Chalet Snack Bar, or get snug in one of the infamous heated Snow Globes, soaking up the atmosphere and magnificent views of the city.

With the year it’s been, there’s never been a more appropriate time to get in the festive spirit.
