Exclusive: Watch out for Greenwich king, DC

By Sarah Tetteh

Representing hot new talent is what we love to do at South London Press Showbiz, so watch out for epic Greenwich king, DC.

The 29-year-old is Sony music’s hot signing –  whose new project on 26th April – is a track called ‘The Curb’ ft Blanco.

DC’s sound showcases a blend of rap, grime, garage and drill. His debut project ‘In The Loop’, produced by TSB found success with tracks like ‘Neighbourhood’ which has racked over 12million streams to date.

His talent is UNREAL. I’ve had a sneak preview of his upcoming tracks, and all I can say is wow, Skepta would certainly be proud. And who knows, he could possibly get Rihanna out of ‘retirement’ with his track Halos Fade and his collection of catchy tunes.

DC tells South London Press Showbiz: “Wow. That would be something to work with Rihanna. My dream collaboration would be definitely Kano, Skepta and J Cole. Skepta is like a UK icon. I’ve got a lot of respect for him.”

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, DC moved to the UK with his mother when he was five years old.

Settling in Woolwich, South East London, his mother would bring him to an African Pentecostal church every Sunday, and although he doesn’t consider himself outwardly religious, he still values his faith and credits his time in church with giving him his moral compass.

“Going to church taught me right from wrong from a very young age”, DC said.

He hopes to inspire young people from South London to reach for their dreams –  just like he has done.

He said: “My friends and family were excited when I got signed. I was the first person to do music professionally. My mum has been so supportive, she’s always been with me from the beginning.”

DC opened up on his music style, saying: “The intention is to create something that cuts across quite a few genres, so it can appeal to lots of people.

“I wanted to tell my truth, what it is like to grow up around here. As long as people tell their truth, that’s the main thing.  Everything else will fall into place – and work hard too.”
