Lebanese street food company could become next Kebab King or Queen

By Charles Harrison

A Lebanese street food company is on the shortlist to become the next Kebab King or Queen.

BEYRoots have joined five other street vendors from across the UK in Quorn Foods’ new street food competition, which sees each entrant create a unique dish from Quorn’s new “Makes Amazing” range.

The best dish will win free advertising space on a billboard in their hometown.

“It’s definitely going to be a tough competition,” said Tariq Al Khaldi, owner of BEYRoots, which has vans across London and fixed locations in Tooting and Mayfair.

BEYRoots are hoping to win with their home-made Lebanese khobez dish with halloumi and Quorn’s Turkish Style Kebab.

The first knock-out round kicks off on Tuesday, April 29 via public vote on Quorn UK’s instagram page.

Rounds will continue until May 3, until the final kebab champion is announced on May 5.

“We’re thrilled to be supporting local street food vendors and their communities after such a challenging year for small businesses,” said Quorn Marketing Director Gill Riley.

The other shortlisted vendors are are Eat Like a Greek from Leeds, Wandering Yak from Cambridgeshire, The Two Fridas and Beelzebab from Brighton, and Yummy Yum Manc’s from Manchester.
