Taste the healthier side of snack time with Snackzilla
BY PALOMA LACY
It’s the word often heard in houses across the country, uttered several times a day and the dread of every parent. “Snack!”
Parents are in a constant battle to meet the ever increasing demand from children for snacks and one Wimbledon mum may just have the answer.
SNACKZILLA is a new soft-baked oat cookie brand made especially for kids available in Sainsbury’s.
Marieke Syed, Founder of SNACKZILLA, created the brand born out of her frustration at not being able to find healthier snacks for her older children.
SNACKZILLA cookies are available in two delicious flavours – chocolate and golden syrup.
Supporting kids to live healthier lives without compromising on taste or fun, SNACKZILLA cookies are HFSS (High in Fat, Salt and Sugar) compliant, contain 50 per cent less sugar than the average sweet biscuit, just 99 calories per cookie, high in fibre, vegan, and free from any artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
They are made in a family run bakery in Yorkshire. SNACKZILLA is available to families nationwide, and supporting their mission of helping to reduce childhood obesity.
Marieke Syed, said “We’re delighted that Sainsbury’s have committed to make it easier and more accessible for customers to make food choices that are good for them and their families and we are thrilled they have chosen SNACKZILLA to champion this”.
SNACKZILLA supports the Change4Life campaign and the cookies carry the Good Choice Badge, supporting parents to choose healthier, lower sugar snack swaps.
The brand is also collaborating with Give.Help.Share, exclusively for the Sainsbury’s trial.
For every carton sold SNACKZILLA will donate a cookie to the charity for their healthy food workshops they run in schools.
Give.Help.Share aims to GIVE children nutritious food; HELP feed families; and SHARE food knowledge for a healthier future, providing food parcels to those in need, and educating families on healthy food choices.
The SNACKZILLA donations will support the Give.Help.Share school workshops that focus on healthy snack swaps.
The workshops aim to provide children with the opportunity to learn about food, its provenance, diet and health together with budgeting skills in order to empower them to develop healthy eating habits and make informed choices.
