A former headteacher who led Millwall’s community scheme has died.

Peter Walsh was headteacher of Forest Hill School (FHS) and a long-Serving trustee and chairman of Millwall Community Trust.

A statement on its website said: “Everyone at Millwall is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former long-serving Trustee and Chair of Millwall Community Trust, Peter Walsh.

A lifelong Lions fan, Peter will be sadly missed by all who knew him.”

The players wore black armbands as a mark of respect on April 24.

A tweet from the school said: “The FHS community is grieving following the death of former headteacher Peter Walsh – an inspirational leader who transformed FHS and touched the lives of many during his 34 years here.

“He will be deeply missed. We will find a way to celebrate and commemorate Pete’s dedication to FHS”
