New children’s book highlighting the experiences of being different, released by Brixton couple

A couple have created a children’s book about being different and defeating adversity.

The Brixton-based duo’s book Trexy finds his Roar draws from their own experiences of being bullied.

Written by Jake Potter and illustrated by Alex Jenkins, the story follows Trexy, who isn’t like the other dinosaurs and just wants to fit in for who he is.

The story follows Trexy’s journey of wanting to hide away, standing up for himself, and the art of forgiveness.

The illustrations are made up of different layers of patterns and textures. Mr Potter said: “Alex spent many hours illustrating it. You may notice that there’s a lot of texture to the images, and that’s because he spent hours drawing on bits of paper to create patterns for backgrounds.”

The launch of the book sold over 150 copies in a few hours, ranking 133rd in early learning for children books and 175th in children’s fiction books on animals.
