Better use of grant cash than bringing back theatre

I am not sure that the Soho Poly is really worth reopening (“Bringing the ‘lunchtime theatre’ slot back to life”, SLP, September 9, 2022).

The area is rather seedy and the original institution closed in 1992.

The £50,000 from the Community Infrastructure Levy would be better spent on improved housing for nurses and other key workers, or on affordable student accommodation.

Renting in the area and most other parts of London is already too expensive because of the impact of developers and rogue landlords.

Everyone at the South London Press thanks you for your continued support.

Former Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick has encouraged everyone in the country who can afford to do so to buy a newspaper, and told the Downing Street press briefing:

“A FREE COUNTRY NEEDS A FREE PRESS, AND THE NEWSPAPERS OF OUR COUNTRY ARE UNDER SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL PRESSURE”

If you can afford to do so, we would be so grateful if you can make a donation which will allow us to continue to bring stories to you, both in print and online.
