Tips to help you save more of your money this winter
ADEY, which designs, manufactures and supplies products and services that significantly improve the effectiveness of heating systems, is sharing its expertise to help homeowners save money this winter.
It wants people to know that water quality is key to the health of the heating system as the build-up of sludge stops heat from circulating, meaning that you need to have your heating on for longer to keep the home warm.
A system flush and filter can save up to seven per cent a year on gas usage and gain up to 47 per cent more heat output from radiators and can extend the life of the boiler by up to seven years, providing savings well worth having.
However, the research shows only eight per cent of people have flushed their system and only seven per cent fitted a magnetic filter as part of their money-saving efforts. Instead, people are turning to measures such as switching off the heating when they are at work and wearing warmer clothes.
An ADEY spokeswoman said: “While we appreciate that this is an investment which will not be affordable to all, there are many homeowners who will be thinking about the long-term performance of their heating and extending the life of the boiler for as long as possible, especially if predictions are correct and this energy crisis lasts longer than just this winter.”
