Patients Lives Matter
As well as celebrating talent on the night, the Power of A Man awards served to recognise bravery through adversity, writes Sarah Tetteh.
This was exemplified through an award given to Londoner Jay Shree Krishna who shared the heart-breaking story of his son Balram Jayesh Patel, who died aged 30, when he was in hospital in August 2023.
Jay, who was accompanied by his wife Louise Patel, told the South London Press Showbiz: “I’d like to thank the organisers for getting this award. This award isn’t really for me.
“The reason I’m here is for my son, and I can’t bring him back. I have a drive to help other people, as we can’t let other people suffer and be taken away as my baby was and other families ripped apart like my wife and I are with the heartbreak of losing our baby when it wasn’t necessary.”
Jay launched Patients Lives Matter following the death of his son, and he is tirelessly fighting to raise awareness to prevent other families going through the same pain.
