Mark Rylance takes to the stage for one night summit Words of Peace

Having finished his role as an outsider, antihero, rebel and messiah in the production of Jerusalem, Mark Rylance is taking the stage again. But this time it’s for a summit of non-violence.

Words of Peace is a one-night summit of non-violence hosted by the Oscar winning actor on September 24.

Actors, artists, and musicians will gather in the candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse in New Globe Walk, Bankside, for an evening of song, poetry and prose.

The event is held in celebration of the UN International Day of Peace, and all profits will be donated by Words of Peace to UNESCO and UNHCR, towards causes benefiting peace-building and refugees of war.

The evening is part of a series of one-off events Shakespeare’s Globe has announced for September and October.

Other performances include Stephen Mangan as Malvolio in a one-off performance of Twelfth Night on September 17
and If It Please You brings a night of glam, drag and high camp by candlelight on October 6.
