Peckham Theatre to provide online classes for youngsters in music, dancing and acting
A theatre programme has been launched online to support the well-being and mental health of young people.
Theatre Peckham will provide 28 online creative classes including music production, street dancing, spoken word and acting.
There will also be a free programme called Rap X Gilbert and Sullivan, which will introduce young people to opera and its similarities to rap.
Suzann McLean, Theatre Peckham’s artistic director said: “After what has been a very challenging year, we have seen the impact of the pandemic on young people’s mental health and we know the arts are great at supporting them in this.
“It’s vital that we keep the arts alive for children and even though our physical doors may be closed, our digital home remains open. Our focus and drive to continue delivering and supporting the ambitions of children and young people enables us to support them during an anxious and uncertain time.”
Theatre Peckham are also offering a number of financial bursaries to support young people whose families may have been affected financially by the pandemic.
