Audiences love the Sounds of the World

Sounds of the World is an exciting new live music event at the Tramshed in Woolwich.

Launched in September 2017, it brings critically-acclaimed global musicians to Woolwich, providing a platform to share live music and culture with local audiences.

The first two events have hosted performance from musicians from China, Nepal, Senegal and Tibet, delivering explosive rhythms and hypnotic melody lines from around the globe.

After the performances audiences are invited to interact with the artists through a live Q&A session, providing an opportunity to learn about the performers’ artistic journeys and musical styles.

The programme was created along withmusician and promoter Ganga Thapa and Greenwich & Lewisham Young People’s Theatre.

He said: “We live in a remarkably diverse society, but sometimes we forget our communities because of lack of time.

“Food is a big component to these events, and is available to be bought from local providers during the concerts.

“Yak Bites, London’s Himalayan food collective, have provided the food for the first two events, creating an atmosphere of celebration and sharing for both audience and artists.

Musician  Ngawang Lodupsaid: “We will definitely come back in the future and share our music.

The next Sounds of the World is on Saturday, March 3 and will showcase music from Turkey, North Africa and Nepal.
