AWARD-WINNING INTERACTIVE THEATRE ‘STANDARD:ELITE’ COMES TO OVALHOUSE
‘Elites make the big decisions. But that’s okay, they’ve earned it. Right?’
Following its award-winning runs across North West England, Mancunian company Hidden Track Theatre bring their interactive theatre game about class, Standard:Elite, to Ovalhouse as the London premiere of their work.
Standard:Elite is an irreverent homespun storytelling show with a difference – the audience get to decide how the story unfolds. At least, some of them do. Divided into ‘Standards’ and ‘Elites’, and progressing through live game playing and real choices, the audience build a new new show every night, whilst exploring issues of class, competition and privilege. In our changing and charged political landscape, this is anarchic political theatre with a new bite.
‘Perfect theatre for a hung parliament.’ BBC Radio Merseyside
Hidden Track are led by writer Elliot Hughes and set out to make theatre that’s genuinely fun, accessible and with a real political voice, aiming to bring working class voices and audiences back to the stage.
‘Themes of class, privilege and social mobility are expertly woven.’

‘Elites’ vote to change which way the story goes, while ‘Standards’ work to tell the story by playing games and competing to become Elites themselves. This highly original theatre experience won the award for Best New Writing at Manchester Fringe and wants Brighton’s audiences to ask an important question: What do I deserve?
