Charcoal-grilled Kebabs, house flatbreads and memorable vegan heroes, along with small plates, BABBER is the newest addition to join the South London institution.

BABBER is being launched in Peckham-based historic pub, The White Horse, this October. Making use of charcoal cooking, BABBER’s menu centres around crafted kebabs and small grazing plates. Running as a two-week introductory offer, customers will be able to take advantage of a 50% off deal on all kebabs, spanning from October 25th- November 8th (Mon-Sat). BABBER is the latest venture from Parched, an independent hospitality group who have been running pubs, bars, and restaurants in South London for nearly 2o years.

Modish kebabs are the backbone of the BABBER menu: versions include chicken with harissa mayo, red cabbage, and apricot relish; pork neck with n’duja, pickled turnips, and garlic yoghurt; lamb kofte with zhoug, marinated courgettes, and tahini sauce, and the delicious vegan aubergine doner with yoghurt, chermoula and bhajis. All served on the house flatbread. And, because this is London in 2019, the menu also features scotch bonnet chicken wings with blue cheese sauce, indulgent grilled halloumi with pomegranate as well as roast cauliflower with all the dressings, and grilled seabass with saffron potatoes, courgettes, and mint.

At the forefront of each kebab will be head chef Joseph Ryan who, having risen up through the ranks of Hoi Polloi and Salon in Brixton Village, was also head chef at the iconic Peckham summer rooftop spot Frank’s Bar, just down the road from The White Horse, and opened and headed up Wildflower, Parched’s previous restaurant in Peckham.

Head chef at BABBER, Joseph Ryan says –
“I have a deep-rooted love of the dish we know affectionately as the Kebab. Our focus with BABBER is to bring some fresh perspective and quality ingredients to the humble Kebab, keeping alive the essence, whilst exploring new and interesting flavour combinations.”

Having served the good people of SE15 since the early 1800’s, The White Horse pub, proudly located at the base of Peckham Rye Common, has been run by Parched for four years.

Parched, is run by a group of best friends who pride themselves on pubs that attract loyal local crowds and neighbourhood restaurants which quietly accrue accolades from customers and critics alike. Their two SE15 sites, The Montpelier and The White Horse, both played a part in Peckham’s transformation into a London-wide destination. Their much-missed music venue Ghost Notes played a massive role in promoting the emerging south London Jazz scene and Wildflower, their plant based restaurant was a big hit amongst the South London dining community.
