Blackheath Combat Training

A Film and TV company has secured a permit to host outdoor screen combat classes for performers.

The Action Academy, provided by company Take 3 based in Greenwich, have started to host screen combat classes on Blackheath common.

The company runs an agency that provides Film and TV productions with more than 300 actors, fighters, dancers, circus performers and more.

They are known for their work on high profile productions such as Witcher, Saturday Night Takeaway, Killing Eve, Pennyworth and the new Little Mermaid film.

Performers that take part in the class learn how to fight for camera and utilise their skills for upcoming productions.

Each month is based on a theme with a variety of weapons, techniques and choreography used.

The month of August is mediaeval, so there will be a focus on quarterstaff – a pole weapon – and broadsword, a 1.8 metre sword.

The classes will take place on Blackheath Common every Saturday until October from 10am to 3.30pm.
