Coco Chanel fashion manifesto exhibits at the V&A

Coco Chanel and all her history will be the subject of the latest fashion exhibition at the V&A.

Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto will explore the French couturier’s enormous influence, from her Parisian roots to establishing the House of Chanel.

From the iconic suits of Chanel to the staple scents of the brand’s perfume range, the exhibition will cover all the standout points from Coco Chanel’s career.

Highlights will include one of the earliest surviving Chanel garments from 1916, original costumes designed by Chanel for the Ballets Russes production of Le Train Bleu in 1924, outfits created for Hollywood stars Lauren Bacall and Marlene Dietrich, and an early example of Chanel’s ground-breaking evening trousers.

The politics of Chanel– a subject that is not so appealing – will be tactfully avoided.

Tickets are already selling out so book ahead for your visit to the South Kensington museum between September 16 and February 2024.
