DJs club together to help Lewisham hospital

Ravers and DJs are banding together to support a maternity ward.
Paul Cartwright, co-creator of the free and independent radio station Muusic.fm, has set up a JustGiving page to raise £10,000 for the Lewisham Hospital maternity ward.
Mr Cartwright, 43, was inspired to take up the cause after his partner gave birth to his twin daughters in the ward. He said: “I will never ever forget the work and commitment they gave to my twin daughters.
It’s not just myself, I know there have been other fathers and mothers who can all say the same.
“At the end of the day more and more children are being born prematurely, which is putting extreme pressure on the resources for the maternity unit in general.
“These humans are the real superheroes and living angels, they do more then their job.
“I want to help all the staff, the midwives, the janitors, the cleaning staff. They’re all sacrificing their time for us.”
Mr Cartwright’s campaign will kick-off on Friday with a night of music and talks from his contacts in the music industry at The Rumour Bar and Lounge in Bromley.
A seminar will run from 11am until 6pm with talks from big names in the dance music industry.
Wayne Anthony, author of Class of 88, and Jarvis Sandy will discuss their personal experiences staging some of the biggest illegal warehouse parties in England.
Alan Miller, who has worked in bars and clubs in London for decades, will talk about his efforts in the campaign to save Fabric nightclub and the importance of a vibrant nightlife. There will also be a video linked interview with 66-year-old DJ Ray Ramirez in Texas, who Mr Cartwright describes as a “real techno grandad”. After this, an after party will run until 2am with Muusic.fm DJs on the decks.
Mr Cartwright said: “Technology is powerful, music is powerful, if you believe in what you are doing and enjoy giving back it’s a win-win.”

It is wonderful to see the support we are getting from Paul Cartwright and the local community through their fundraising efforts. We provide the full range of services for women and families, and additional fundraising like this goes towards areas that sit outside normal NHS provisions.”
