Exhibition: Catch La Lucha at the Brixton Library before September 1
La Lucha, Spanish for The Struggle, brings together paintings and drawings from Bogotá, Colombia to Barking, East London.
London based artist Nicholas Baldion will be showing his work at the Brixton Tate Library in Chaplin House, Brixton Oval, this month.
Mr Baldion’s art includes some intimate portraits of friends and family as well as some narrative works which were composed to tell a story.
The works deal with personal struggles and the wider collective class struggle.
Together they make a body of work with a strong social commentary.
Mr Baldion sees painting as “thinking with the hands”, a type of experimentation with texture, colour, form and composition.
It is also something that he says he takes great pleasure in, excited by the thrill of honing his skills and learning.
Visit Brixton Library before September 1 to catch La Lucha.
