As the nights draw in and the temperature drops we hear the first whispers of Christmas. That means big roasts, red wine and catching up with friends and family.
If you can’t be bothered to cook Christmas dinner this year or can’t wait until the big day to tuck in, there are loads of great options. Here’s our rundown of the best turkey dinners in South London.
At Crystal Palace institution Joanna’s, the Christmas menu is available alongside the main menu for all tables of up to six. Tables of seven or more have to order from the Christmas menu, but lucky them, with cod cheek croquettes with cauliflower and celeriac and pear soup for starters, Norfolk turkey with all the trimming for main and veggie wellington as a change.
Desserts include Christmas pudding with brandy cream and dark chocolate and hazelnut tart with salted caramel ice cream. Yum. Two courses £23, three courses £28.

In Brixton, the three-course Christmas feast at the Trinity Arms will set you back £29.99. It’s time to tuck into root vegetable bubble and squeak, poached duck egg, hollandaise (v) to start and the full works for main course.
Crown of English Rose turkey, pigs in blankets, goose fat roast potatoes, honey roasted carrots and parsnips, gravy, bread sauce, Brussels tops and chestnuts should just about cover it. Turkey dodgers can choose between pork belly, steak and salmon or a delicious nut roast.

The Cherry Tree in Dulwich is offering three courses, plus a glass of Prosecco and half a bottle of wine for £36 or a two-course lunch without drinks for £18.95. Diners can expect traditional roast turkey, cranberry and sage stuffing for main course, or 12-hour braised blade and shin of beef, or pressed pork belly.
For veggies, there’s a vegetable and feta strudel. Had enough of Christmas pudding? There’s a choice of three desserts – chocolate and orange brownie, served with salted caramel ice cream and chocolate sauce, apple and cinnamon crumble or white chocolate and lemon cheese cake.
