Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust create programme of shows to open up dialogue about death
A hospital trust and an arts festival are encouraging people to talk about death.
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Vault Festival hope to open up conversations around death, dying and grief by creating a programme of shows based around the subject called Let’s Talk @ Vault Festival.
Kimberley St John, a palliative care nurse at Guy’s and St Thomas’, pictured, said: “We know having a conversation about death is not an easy thing to do, particularly when it involves someone close to us.
“But by doing so, we can help make sure that the end of someone’s life is managed in the best way possible for them and their relatives.”
Becky Brown, from VAULT Festival, said: “We noticed a theme with artists making shows centered around the subject of death or dying and how we cope with it.
When Kimberley approached us from Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, it felt like a perfect fit.
Vault Festival runs until Sunday, March 17 in venues throughout Waterloo.
