Irish band Soda Blonde performing at The Lexington this November
From small talk to dreaming big – this Irish band cannot be pinned down to a single musical style.
Soda Blonde have just followed up their critically acclaimed debut album, Small Talk, from 2021, with a more experimental concoction of tracks in their new album, Dream Big.
The group will play at The Lexington, in Pentonville Road, Islington, north London on November 22.
Faye O’Rourke and her bandmates, guitarist Adam O’Regan, drummer Dylan Lynch, and bassist Donagh Seaver-O’Leary, have been playing in bands together since their teenage years.
The group gathered nearly 10 years under their belt before introducing the world to Soda Blonde in 2019.
Their newest songs are a melting pot of pop music from all different generations, mixing synth-pop, snappy beats with vibrant electronica in songs like Bad Machine.
The album speaks of a disillusionment with the music industry on one hand, and an unapologetic pursuit of desire.
There is also a fragility at play, especially in the bittersweet ballad, An Accident, bringing a balance of tragedy and hope to the forefront.
Ms O’Rourke said: “I feel like my job is to be as human as possible and to expose all of my innermost thoughts without fear of judgment.
“Not to tell people what’s right or wrong, but just to be vulnerable and allow them to figure that out for themselves.”
