Only the best for Mother’s Day at Park’s Edge Bar & Kitchen, Herne Hill

Choosing a restaurant for Mother’s Day is among the most difficult tasks there is. The pressure is on to impress mum, to thank her for everything she does for the family but luckily, South London is awash with some of the best tables around.

Neighbourhood restaurant Park’s Edge Bar & Kitchen sits in an enviable position
overlooking Brockwell Park, and the chefs are really pulling out the stops for mothers
everywhere this year.

Three courses will set you back £34 per head, and while drinks aren’t included, a lovely touch is one of the Mother’s Brew cocktails, starting at £6.75.

A decent menu has the diner salivating in the opening sentences, crispy pressed ham hock, with black garlic aioli – yes, please.

If that doesn’t take your fancy, perhaps wild garlic soup, crème fraiche and pistachio, will.
The menu at this best of British (with a subtle Caribbean twist) restaurant never disappoints, bringing inventive and always seasonal dishes, to happy diners.

Again, no run-of-the-mill main courses here: sweet potato and leek wellington, with all the roast trimmings, and confit Scottish salmon are two of the choices.

Pudding wise, caramelised banana and pineapple crumble, chocolate sorbet caught my attention. This restaurant is one both to try and one to watch.
