Pop Brixton presents an Mardis Gras all-day celebration

Prime that tail-feather and get ready to party at Pop Brixton’s fifth annual Mardis Gras all-day celebration with blazing street beats and the fire and funk of New Orleans.

On February 29, from 3pm until midnight, Pop Brixton is thrilled to welcome the return of Europe’s largest Mardis Gras celebration.

The day promises to be a full-on immersive New Orleans experience set in old sea containers-turned mini iconic French Quarter.

We kick-off with morning kids craft activities ramping up to an evening of hot live music, dance, photography and more.

Co-hosted by an energizing instrumental 12-piece, 7Suns, there will be a non-stop line-up of Afro-Latin jazz rock world fusion vision – where the vibrant powers of carnival and Mardis Gras collide.

This year’s headliners, The Coalminers, will conjure up their special brew of “Swamp Soul,” featuring uplifting funk, bursting at the seams with powerhouse vocals bringing the rhythm and soul of New Orleans alive.

Dom Pipkin, who is considered the soul of New Orleans in the UK, returns to the daytime Bayou stage with his old-time New Orleans barrel-house piano blues and jazz to get the good times rolling.

In the main square the Pomba Girls, London’s female driven immersive party hosts, will be bringing their box of glitter and costume fun and frolics.

Alongside hot live music, Pop Brixton’s resident food vendors will be cranking up the heat to feed hungry guests with host of Louisiana-inspired street food and drink.

The Mardi Gras celebration is free to attend.
