Stockwell artist opens virtual exhibition with inspiration coming from lockdown
An artist from Stockwell has opened an immersive virtual exhibition inspired by the places he missed most during lockdown.
Joe Simpson used fine liner and marker pens to capture the emptiness outside locations such as the National Theatre and the Natural History Museum.
He said: “I’ve chosen venues that I love and long to return to and drawn them from a viewpoint that focuses on their eerie quietness.
“While this series focuses on a difficult period, I hope they have a timeless quality. These are beautiful places drenched in sunlight representing a celebration of the city, and encapsulates the excitement and anticipation of a return to normal.”
