Stroll along the Thames to the South Bank Christmas market
Take on the crowds at the South Bank Christmas market.
For years the Southbank Centre has drawn crowds from far and wide for its Christmas market.
This year is as popular as ever, as people head to the riverside to stroll along the Thames under glistening lights – the river bank transformed into a winter wonderland with alpine-style cabins selling steaming drinks and warming street food.
As you walk down, there are savoury plates of truffle burgers, duck wraps, lobster rolls or gourmet cheese toasties on offer as well as winter favourites like toasted marshmallows.
Or grab a mulled wine or hot chocolate while you look at all the different pop-up shops and their gifts, jewellery and decorations. The market is part of the Southbank Centre’s winter festival.
So after soaking up the Christmas atmosphere of the market you can take a look at the centre’s free outdoor winter light exhibition, or the free Christmas choirs and concerts including Southbank Centre Youth Voices: Winter in Song.
