Electronic music venue Printworks announces its final season programme running from February 4
Six years ago, Broadwick Live converted the largest printing factory in Western Europe into what is now widely recognised as the UK’s most iconic events space for electronic music, with a lighting system that is unmatched by any other, writes Molly Pavord.
Printworks, in Surrey Quays Road, will be closing down next year as part of British Land’s Canada Water Masterplan to redevelop the area. But fear not, it will not be leaving without a final hurrah.
The venue has just announced its final season programme running from February 4–May 1, 2023, which will feature more than 40 different shows, and promises to be its best season to date.
Director of entertainment, Matthew Johnson, said: “We’re excited to bring you the final season at Printworks.
“Over the past six years we’ve welcomed millions of guests, along with some incredible artists, partners, labels and collectives through our doors.
“For the final season, we’re looking forward to welcoming back guests and partners who have been with us throughout Printworks’ journey, along with some new parties and breakout brands.
“The team have gone above and beyond in terms of programming, production and creativity for the final season to celebrate the history of Printworks for the last time in its current guise.”
The programme includes parties such as Hospitality, Defected and DNB Allstars, as well as some newer brands such as queer celebration Body Movements, Soweto Kinch, Helena Starr and Aurora Orchestra.
Drum and bass fans can rejoice at Worried about Henry’s line up, featuring Hybrid Minds, Kanine, Fruction, Skepsis (SnB set) and more on March 4, 2023.
Disco lovers can witness the return of a Printworks’ favourite, La Discotheque, on March 10, 2023, featuring the likes of Derrick Carter, Jayda G, Erol Allan and Mix-Stress.
For those looking for a live Orchestra experience, the London Symphony Orchestra and Soweto Kinch will be presenting White Juju – a show which will explore themes of racial discrimination as inspired by the Black Lives Matter Movement – on March 16.
The programme will be a celebration of everything Printworks has to offer, having presented more than 3,000 artists and around 300 internationally acclaimed shows over its bustling six-year life, the finale of the venues closing weekend will take place from April 28 – May 1, with a line-up to be announced soon.
