The Swinging Sixties: Bus and Hall Tour
New and immersive tours hosted by the Royal Albert Hall and Music Heritage London will celebrate the city that gave birth to many of the 1960s music idols.
From March 1-25, specially curated one hour guided tours will highlight the Royal Albert Hall’s role in this fascinating and influential era of London’s cultural history – like the night Dylan went electric, Pink Floyd went ‘experimental’ and The Beatles and The Rolling Stones played on the same bill.
This will be followed by a 90-minute sightseeing trip aboard a vintage Routemaster bus, taking in some of London’s most notable music, fashion and cultural locations, all to a backdrop of live commentary and the greatest hits of all time.
Legendary music venues, the homes of the best 1960s musicians and institutions such as the Chelsea Drugstore and London’s first psychedelic boutique will be on the tour before heading back to the most iconic music venue in the world.
On March 25, star of stage and screen, Mike Berry will be joining the tour party and adding his name to a long list of famous 1960s band members from The Yardbirds (pictured above), The Kinks, The Small Faces and The Who, The Shadows and Genesis who have recently rock-up on the 1960s bus to offer their support.
Mike made the Top 10 in 1963 with Don’t You think It’s Time and again in 1980 with The Sunshine Of Your Smile.
He cropped up too in a memorable performance on TV’s The Voice in 2016 and still tours regularly.
He is also, of course, well known for playing the young Mr Spooner in the British sitcom Are You Being Served.
