This year’s Bexley Book Buzz literary festival runs from February 16 to March 2 and tickets are available now

With visits from famous authors, illustrators, storytellers, animators and much more, there is even more to look forward to for local book lovers.

More than 3,000 people took part in last year’s varied programme of events and activities across the borough. The 2019 programme is also packed full of free or low cost events and activities with something for everyone.

For children, highlights include Horrible Science shows from the world’s bestselling children’s science writer, Nick Arnold, and a Football School event with author Nick Bellos.

There will also be visits from authors Chloe Inkpen, Knife & Packer and Joseph Coelho, as well as storytellers, animation workshops and craft activities. It’s bound to be a fun-packed half-term.

Adults may be interested in visits from best-selling authors Nick Barratt, Stuart Clark, Charlie Connelly, Lindsey Davis, Stella Duffy, Jean Fullerton, Mike Gayle, David Hewson and Alison Weir. Renowned poet Wendy Cope will also be returning to her Bexley roots.

Councillor Peter Craske, cabinet member for places, said: “This listing for this year’s Book Buzz is even more impressive than last – and that is saying something. We have some great authors and activities planned for the fortnight that promise to keep us all entertained throughout February.

For 2019, Book Buzz will run at the same time as the new Libraries at Night project.

The night-time fun will include music, dance, a murder mystery, an escape room challenge, comedy, and board games for adults.
