Volunteer led street market West Norwood Feast back in June

A volunteer led street market festival is back for a summer lineup bringing treats, artisanal foods, vintage clothing and family activities with a new environmental focus.

The West Norwood Feast is back on June 2 bringing “fabulous community spirit and homemade treats” to five separate locations around West Norwood High Street.

Running from 10am to 4pm here will be five specialist-themed market hubs stretched along the high street.

The artisan’s market has anything from handmade pottery, jewellery, T-shirts and art. Here you will also find artist’s demonstrating their craft and running workshops.

Whether you’re a keen foodie, committed to local produce or simply fancy a bite to eat there’s something to satisfy everyone’s cravings at the food fair section.

The Retro Village has clothing rails full of classic vintage and retro clothes, you’ll also find books, re-made and reclaimed furnishings.

Fresh ‘n’ Green is the fresh produce and garden section to meet local demand for meat, fish, cheese, bread, olives, charcuterie, fruit, vegetables and fresh organic juices as well as old favourites like popcorn, flowers and plants .

The Family hub is a space for free family entertainment, health and wellness advice and activities plus a lovely Picnic & Play Area just to sit down and take it all in.

This year, there will be a major focus on sustainable living – taking look at the feast’s’ carbon footprint and consulting with traders about reducing single use plastics following new initiatives.

Feast traders have pledged to give a discount to feast goers who bring their own reusable containers when buying food and drink.

There will also be some enthusiastic Feast volunteers at the bins advising on how to dispose of waste which will include a pilot scheme to compost food waste.

Alongside the usual Feast day entertainment, there will be a range of workshops and activities promoting ways to live sustainably.

Over the year there will the opportunities to learn how to repair, get creative with plastic, cook sustainably, green your space.
