What’s On: Christmas is coming to Kidbrooke Village
Festivities will be in full swing at Kidbrooke Village on Saturday 30 November when the annual Christmas celebration kicks off at 4pm in Pegler Square, at the heart of the Village Centre.
Everyone is invited to gather round the 35-foot pine tree with Santa and join the fun at this family-friendly community event.
The Christmas tree lights will be switched on at 6pm by the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Mick Hayes, who is also a local councillor and the ward member for Kidbrooke Village.
Food stalls will offer everything from a Caribbean-inspired American grill and pizza to muffins for dessert and a retro food van will be on hand serving drinks, including deliciously spiced mulled gin.
There will also be a variety of fairground stalls including a coconut shy, Hoopla and live carol music so the whole family can get into the Christmas spirit.
The Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust will be bringing along a pop-up museum where people can learn about the fascinating history of the area.
There’s also be a chance for people to test out their vocal chords with an hour of classic Christmas karaoke.
Those having a go will receive a £5 voucher to spend at one of the stalls and one singer will win a three-month pass to use at Kidbrooke’s new Pure Gym, which opens on 20 December.
Karaoke spaces are limited, so people are encouraged to get in quick.
Karl Whiteman, Divisional Managing Director at Berkeley East Thames, said: “It’s been a really busy and exciting year at Kidbrooke with the opening of our fantastic adventure playground in Cator Park, as well as the arrival of our new local pub, The Depot, and a host of community events from the summer fête to Diwali.
We’re looking forward to topping it off with our annual Christmas celebration. It’s always a fantastic time for the community to get together, mingle and make new friends – we hope to see plenty of people there for a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie.”
Getting to the Christmas event could not be easier – the 178 and new 335 bus route along Kidbrooke Park Road bring passengers straight to Pegler Square, while visitors from further afield can make their way to the event via Kidbrooke train station.
