Whats On: Pamela’s Palace at the OSO Arts Centre for one night only

An interactive comedy show set in a beauty salon is heading to the OSO Arts Centre for one night only on July 7.

Pamela’s Palace premiered at Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year and is back on tour with their trio of improvisers.

The all-singing, all-dancing show follows Pamela’s attempts to win the Salon of the Year competition with her colleagues Tiffany and Bronwyn taking the audience through “the drama of a Mike Leigh film and the sparkle and humour of Strictly Ballroom”.

Donna Gray, creator of Pamela’s Palace plays Pamela and said she is delighted to be performing at the OSO Arts Centre as it is a venue that promotes funny women.

Pamela said: “About four years ago, I created a character called Pamela, who was a vintage 1960s hairdresser, and I developed a solo show around her called Pamela’s Permanent Wave.

“I performed it at the Etcetera Theatre in Camden and the audience feedback was fantastic. I thought it had legs as a female ensemble, and when Interactive Theatre International (ITI) approached me to support further development of it, I jumped at the chance.

“This production is a three-hander. It’s been devised and written by its three performers: Katie Grace Cooper, Ayesha Tansey and myself, with the wonderful Mella Faye at the helm as our director and co-conspirator.

ITI has assisted in the marketing and production, and many others have helped at different stages, including our brilliant clown specialists Aitor Basauri and Stephen Harper and some musical numbers by Sam Halmarack.

“We are delighted to be coming to OSO. It’s a venue that promotes funny women, musical & comedy acts and has a holistic approach to the feel-good factors. And feeling good is very important to us.

“This is the perfect segue to discussing the hair styles of Barnes. I am a bit of an icon, and trust me I’ll be doing you a service. With a quick Google search I can see that you are in need of the Pamela touch. “I’ll give you tips, I’ll give it to you blow by blow, all the juicy inside styling guru insta inside all of it.

Then you’ll be transformed. All you have to do is come and soak it up, soak up the shear excellence that is Pamela’s Palace.

We are bringing my mobile salon for one night only.”
