World Heart Beat hosts an array of jazz artists for the EFG London Jazz Festival
A 200-seat capacity concert hall with 360-degree surround sound is opening its doors as a host for the London Jazz festival.
In November last year music charity World Heart Beat, revealed its new performance and music education centre in Ponton Road, Nine Elms, Wandsworth, marking the first time London had welcomed a new concert hall since 2013.
Between November 10 and 19, the World Heart Beat concert hall will host an array of talented jazz artists and groups for EFG London Jazz Festival.
Starting things off on November 10, Latina pianist – Eliane Correa – will perform with a seven-piece outfit, put together for the show, playing music from right across her career.
The Japanese guitarist, May Inoue, is also set to take the stage.
He is a graduate of Berklee Music College in the US and has earned various accolades in Japan including album of the year in 2011 for his debut record, First Train.
Closing the show on November 18, Rebecca Nash will present Redefining Element 78, a new work commissioned by Bristol Jazz Festival.
Her new project is a collection of eight pieces mixing an unusual concoction of sound and science, centred around precious metals.
Also in November, the hall will host the UK premiere of Christine Tobin’s spoken word backed by a band of musicians and a London premiere from jazz pianists and violinist Julian Joseph and Harriet Mackenzie.
The building is also used by the charity to provide music education – offering bursaries and free instruments to more than half of the students that come through their door.
