Zendaya in the running for lead role in children’s book adaptation

Hollywood megastar Zendaya has been eyed up to play the lead role in an adaptation of a children’s book written by a London-based author.

The Euphoria and Challengers star is the first choice of author Sky Andrews to play the lead role in the new ‘Shan Shan World’ franchise.
‘Shan Shan World’ is the cross reality, animation story of Shantelle Waters who finds a magical microphone and is whisked into animation world as the singing sensation Shan Shan. The owners of the franchise believe Zendaya has the right look for the project.
The lead character is mixed-race which will appeal to countries all over the world.
The book is written by well-known agent – Sky Andrew and is expected to be a billion-dollar franchise. The book is currently on kindle and the hardback version is out this summer.
In an exclusive chat with South London Press Showbiz, Sky said: “Zendaya is representative of so much. She has a great story and inspirational to her peers and next generation.
“She represents diversity, inclusion and dreams. Kids around the world can see a little bit of themselves in her.”
Sky explained the concept of his ground-breaking book.
He said: “Shan Shan World breaks with the tradition of other famous Disney and animation characters by having someone who is mixed-race and could be associated with many different countries.
The book is being translated into Mandarin and Korean for the Asian markets.”
The Shan Shan character is also being developed as a real- like popstar with her concerts being played on virtual reality headsets.
Zendaya is known for her acting, but she is a very good singer. Her video ‘Neverland’ has had 86 million views.
Let’s hope she can clear some room in her diary to make it happen – sounds like a match made in heaven.
