Lincoln boss makes Charlton Athletic league table admission ahead of Valley trip
Lincoln City boss Mark Kennedy believes that Charlton Athletic have a squad of players who should be competing at the top half of the League One table.
The Addicks ended an eight-game winless run in League One last weekend after they picked up all three points in a 3-1 win at Portsmouth.
Charlton, who head to Old Trafford on Tuesday to take on Manchester United in the quarter-final of the EFL Cup, are 17th in the third tier.
Dean Holden’s side welcome Lincoln to The Valley tomorrow.
“When we played them – we drew 0-0 – it was quite a quiet day at the ground,” said Kennedy to Lincoln’s YouTube channel.
“A draw was a fair result. On the whole, it was a really good point. They went on and won three on the bounce.
“The bottom line is that they have got some really talented individual players. They’re a very good side, particularly when they’re attacking.
“Dean [Holden] is a particularly outstanding coach – highly respected in the game.
“From the outside looking in, he’s walked into a really good group of players.
“I don’t know the people and the characters. But in terms of footballers, they’re a team that I look at, who I would expect to be at the top end of the league.
“Maybe that’s why they brought Dean in. But in terms of the players and the new coach coming in, they have got a very good fit.”
