Manchester City sign Terrell Agyemang following Charlton Athletic release

Former Charlton Athletic midfielder Terrell Agyemang has signed for Manchester City’s development squad.

The Addicks released the 19-year-old this summer.

City initially took Agyemang on trial and he was part of their pre-season tour.

First and foremost I would like to thank God a thousand times over.

“It’s a proud moment for me and my family to sign for such an amazing club, the endless support and belief will forever be appreciated,” Agyemang posted on Instagram. “This one is deeper than words can fully explain.”

QPR had also been linked with a move for the player.

Agyemang did sign a professional contract with Charlton in July 2021 along with the likes of Mason Burstow, since sold to Chelsea, and Richard Chin, who has made his first-team debut this season.

But Agyemang was let go by the League One outfit in May.

What is the thinking behind this release, obviously not rated by the powers that be at CAFC yet considered good enough to join the Premier League champions development squad, Hmm?. I know full well there is no guarantee of him breaking through but MCFC must have seen something about him that is worth following up. Good luck Terrell, seize the opportunity afforded you.

Some of us that can say, we have followed Charlton for over 60 years, can say without refute,’so what’s new ?’ . We can remember when back in the 60s-70s, we were known as the “stock exchange’ for developing and unloading good players, to more ambitious clubs, and so it goes on. It cant all be bad luck. We just seem to draw duds at the top level, from owners to the, execs., that started with Glickstein in the 50s. We are now losing to teams in the third tier, that in my day, were wannabees in the Southern League, And jolly good luck to em
