Millwall confirm loan deal for Hull City’s Ryan Longman

Millwall have confirmed the loan signing of Ryan Longman from Hull City.

The 22-year-old is believed to have put pen to paper in time to be available for tomorrow’s away game at Birmingham City – along with Luton Town midfielder Allan Campbell, who is also making a temporary switch to the Championship club – subject to EFL and FA clearance.

Millwall were interested in the former Brighton player before he made the switch to Hull following a successful loan spell.

Lions boss Gary Rowett told our paper: “He is one we tried to sign before and kept tabs on. When he went to Hull we were in the race and couldn’t quite do it at that point.

“He is only 22 and has played left wing-back really effectively for Hull and played right wing-back. He can play left wing and right wing – he can even play as a nine, he did that for Wimbledon on loan and also Hull. He’s a very versatile player.

“He has good energy, good mobility and good quality and he has the ability to cross from wide areas and beat people. He gives us good variations, in terms of what we can do. He comes into the group, adds competition and also gives us some nice flexibility.”

Millwall’s director of football operations and recruitment, said: “Ryan is a player we know really well having tried to sign him previously, so we are very pleased to add him to our squad.

“He gives us another option in forward, wide and wing-back areas – on both sides of the pitch – and the ability to score and create goals from different positions. His work ethic and the intensity with which he trains and plays will really suit our culture.”
