Millwall defender Murray Wallace signs contract extension

Murray Wallace has signed a contract extension at Millwall – the third player at the Championship side to extend their terms this week.

The Lions have already tied down right-sided defender Danny McNamara and winger Tyler Burey.

And now former Scunthorpe United centre-back Wallace, who had been due to be out of contract at the end of June, has also committed to a longer stay in SE16.

Millwall manager Gary Rowett told the South London Press: “Muzza is someone who does everything he can to win when he is on the pitch. He is a fierce competitor and has been very consistent for me. He has played left wing-back, left centre-back, left-back in a four and in the middle of a back three.

“He is one you can trust to go and do the job. I think he has been as consistent as anyone in my time here.

“He does everything right off the pitch. You go in early in the morning and he is one of the first in doing his gym work and preparation which only gives him rewards on the pitch.

“I’m really pleased to have him here longer. He has been a very good player for us so far.”

Wallace is out with a fractured foot.

“He is still maybe three weeks away from being back fit,” said Rowett. “That is hugely frustrating, but it is what it is.”
