Millwall suffer major setback as Billy Mitchell ruled out with ankle injury
Millwall have been dealt a fresh injury blow with Billy Mitchell ruled out with an ankle injury.
The Lions midfielder misses today’s home game against Sheffield United with the issue, which was sustained in the 1-0 defeat at Coventry City on Tuesday night.
Millwall have confirmed that Mitchell will see a specialist next week to determine the full extent of the problem.
Leeds loanee Jamie Shackleton takes his place for the televised Championship fixture today.
Mitchell has started the last 23 league matches for the Lions and made his 100th career appearance for them in their derby victory over QPR last weekend.
Millwall’s play-off push has been impacted by injuries with Shaun Hutchinson, Callum Styles, Mason Bennett and Tyler Burey all unavailable.
Rowett has made three changes for the visit of second-placed United, the other two unenforced. Oliver Burke comes in to face his former club with Andreas Voglsammer also included in the starting 11. George Honeyman and Duncan Watmore drop to the bench.
