Motorcyclist is critical after crash in St Helier Avenue, Merton

A motorcyclist is in a critical condition after a collision with a bus.

Police are investigating after being called at 10.55am on Thursday, 30 May to reports of a collision between a red Honda motorcycle and a bus on the northbound carriageway of St Helier Avenue, near to the junction with Middleton Road, Morden.

The motorcyclist – a man aged in his 30s – was taken to a South London hospital by paramedics suffering serious injuries; he remains there in a critical condition.

His next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the bus stopped at the scene. There has been no arrest.

Any witnesses – or anyone with information or dashcam / CCTV footage – is asked to call the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8543 5157 referencing CAD 2580/30May19. Alternatively, call police on 101 or tweet @MetCC using the same reference.
