Naby Sarr posts farewell message to Charlton Athletic fans
Naby Sarr has posted a farewell message confirming his departure from Charlton Athletic.
The 26-year-old centre-back made 116 appearances for the Addicks.
Sarr is out of contract this summer.
The French-born defender was the most expensive signing made by Charlton in the 2015 summer transfer window as he arrived on a five-year deal from Portuguese side Sporting.
But he struggled to adapt to Championship football. When the Addicks suffered relegation to League One at the end of the 2015-16 campaign he was loaned out to Red Star FC.
But after that he came back and featured much more under Lee Bowyer, including starting in the play-off final win over Sunderland at Wembley.
Sarr said: “I would like to thank everyone at the club – the staff, the players, the fans and everyone else.
“I came, I struggled a lot and I learned a lot. I worked hard and the hard work always pays off.
“That’s everything that made me improve and made me the player I am today and I’m so grateful. You just gotta trust the process – God is in control.
“Thanks to all the ones who showed me love and support through the ups and down – you are the real ones.
“It was an honour and a big pleasure to wear this shirt.
“I wish the very best for the club and hopefully things will get better in the future for the CAFC family.”
