100 pharmacies offer walk-in Covid booster jab to protect vulnerable ahead of winter

More than 100 pharmacies in South-west London are offering walk-in Covid booster jabs to protect the most vulnerable ahead of winter.

The new vaccination service being offered across Croydon, Merton and Wandsworth will also offer flu jabs for eligible South-west Londoners.

To be eligible for the Covid-19 seasonal – or booster – jab, you must be aged 65 or over, pregnant, at increased risk or between the ages of six months and 64-years-old, a frontline health or social care worker or aged 12 to 64-years-old and living with someone with a weakened immune system.

GP Dr Nicola Jones said: “Pharmacies are in your neighbourhood and in your high street, so it’s great that more than 100 are helping with our push to protect those most at risk from Covid.

“Being able to walk into a local pharmacy at a time that suits you makes it even more convenient to get a vaccination and top up your immunity ahead of winter.”

This follows a government announcement last month that precautionary measures would be taken to protect those most vulnerable from illness during winter following the identification of a new Covid variant – BA.2.86 – in August.

A list of South-west London pharmacies and other sites offering walk-in Covid jabs is available online at southwestlondon.icb.nhs.uk/vax

Anyone eligible can also book their Covid vaccination via the NHS website, by downloading the NHS app or by calling 119 for free if they cannot get online.
