19-year-old charged with murder of Filipe Oliveira
A man has been charged with the murder of Filipe Oliveira in West Norwood.
Caudel Haughton, 19, of Conisborough Crescent, Catford, was arrested by Met officers on Saturday and charged with Filipe’s murder on Sunday.
He will appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court today.
A fundraiser has been launched by the family of Filipe, killed “by senseless knife crime” who would be “willing to give his last pound away to someone else who needed it”.
Soraia Oliveira, the creator of the fundraiser, said: “Our son and brother, Filipe, was tragically taken from us. He was a very much loved member of our family and his loss will be felt strongly forever.
“His friends are forever going to miss his company, jokes, laugh and smile.
“Filipe was one of the funniest people you could come across, and always put his friends and family first. He would be willing to give his last pound away to someone else who needed it and shared everything he had.
“No one plans for someone to die at 20 years old. Especially not for them to be taken so violently and suddenly.”
Police were called at around 6pm on April 15 to reports of a stabbing in Norwood Road, West Norwood. Officers and London Ambulance Services responded.
They found a man in the communal area of flats above shops in Norwood Road. Officers believe the victim had been stabbed at the doorway between the street and steps leading up to this communal area.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man died at the scene. Specialist officers are supporting Filipe’s family.
