250 new homes to be built on disused 50‐acre quarry site in Erith
Almost 250 new homes will be added to 600 already being built on a disused 50‐acre quarry site in Erith after changes to the plans were given the green light.
Councillors voted unanimously to extend the project, which includes a large primary school, ecology park and commercial space, at a meeting of Bexley council’s planning committee.
The scheme is being delivered by a partnership between developers Anderson and housing association L&Q.
Sean Emmett, Group Partnerships Director at Anderson, said they were delighted to receive the backing for the extra 249 properties at The Quarry.
“This has involved more than 18 months of constructive engagement with Bexley,” he said.
“Over that period, we have been working with residents, members and officers of the council to ensure that the revised masterplan reflects the needs of the local area and ensures that we can successfully deliver new homes on a site which was previously considered too difficult to develop.
“It’s up to us now to deliver these new homes, the Limewood Free School and quality public realm for new and existing residents of Erith.”
The revised masterplan will deliver 87 affordable homes in the first tranche of new homes to be delivered as part of the next phase of development.
